This book is a masterpiece in contemporary Latin fiction. It’s so strange how it manages to capture the Miami Cuban American experience in a way that feels deeply relatable, personal, yet also not. I could be any of these women. I know many of these women. It is brutally realistic in its depictions and that may be a a pro or con depending on how you look at it. I finished this in roughly 2 days simply because I was being lazy but the ending did almost bring me to tears. We are force. Highly recommend 5/5. This might be my book of the year.

P.S. they’re are so many things I highlighted from this book that will stick with me.

A moving story about what women are capable of, what they try, what they fail, what they hope to do. Gripping in it's details if a bit overwrought at times. Also a gorgeous consideration across time of Cuban and Latin American (im)Migration.
