The story was very slow at first. Lots of build up. If you can plow through it the last half is entertaining. Vasaya is an inspiring and strong person. Free as a bird , never to be caged. If you like fantasy, you will like this. . If you like empowered women you will like this

I didn’t hate it—but it’s definitely not a new favorite. The writing was lyrical and the atmosphere was strong, but I felt like I was only half in the story most of the time. I was intrigued by the world and the characters, but I think this book is probably best appreciated by someone who’s more familiar with Russian folklore and literature. There were layers I knew I wasn’t fully grasping, and that left me feeling a little disconnected. Still, I can see why people love it—it just wasn’t quite for me.
