WHAT A GOOD BOOK. I loved the writing, the magic, the characters. I'm eager to pick up the 2nd book, because I need more of Vasya.

I do think the ending

(the way the Bear was bound again)

was a bit...unoriginal, cliché? It doesn't bother me too much though.

The feel and atmosphere of this book was immaculate!And the characters were lovable (mostly) and layered.

This was a surprisingly really delightful read. While adjusting to the names and Russian words take a bit of time, the story is really beautiful in a dark and twisted way. I’ve read a bit of Russian folklore before so I think that helped with comprehension. If you’re not familiar, I would hit the glossary first.
