One of Nicholas Sparks' best!

This book took me quite a while to get through, even when I specifically focused on getting it done. I HATED the chapters with Ira, finding them way too long and drawn out. I get his story is important, and it definitely makes more sense once you've finished the book, but I had no emotional connection at all to Ira or his wife, Ruth. Throughout the entire story, there were a lot of "they went about and did this, and for the next three weekends this is what they did," etc etc. I found it very boring and unecessary. This book definitely could have been compressed to move the story along better and capture my interest. Essentially just boils down to bad writing. It feels like there was no editing done to take out all the unnecessary fillers that had absolutely nothing to do with anything; just super dry explanations of their day-to-day tasks. This is my first Nicholas Sparks read and I am a bit hesitant now to pick up others. It's a good thing his books have produced some good movies...

This is definitely one of my favourite books of all time! It was written so well and it played with my emotions a lot. I'm certainly going to recommend it to all my friends and family!

Nice read. Typical Nicholas Sparks.

First Nicholas Sparks book I've read. I am surely not disappointed with it! This book was so amazing and it made me feel so many feelings. I grew to love all the characters so much!

I'm not always the biggest Nicholas Sparks fan. To me, all his stories are the same: two unexpected people fall in love, something profound happens, someone dies. So I read his stories off and on.

As I realized the Levinsons had a remarkable art collection, I secretly hoped Sophia would somehow end up with it, in the hopes she would get the museum she wanted to work at so bad.

What a sweet conclusion to a book. Seriously! Probably one of his better cliché novels!

While I could never say Nicholas Sparks doesn't write an enticing book, I would have to say if you have read one of his books you've read them all

*Spoiler for every Nicholas Sparks book*

Girl meets boy (vary the age) boy and girl fall in love. Boy and girl have to over come some tragic happening (vary the tragic obstacle ) which either ends with boy and girl overcoming the odds and being happy together in North Carolina or a tragic death. But always with all obstacles conveniently taken care of.

*Spoiler*
The longest ride is no exception. The older couples story was unnecessary accept for solving above mentioned obstacles in the young couples life (aka losing the ranch, and not getting internships) so they could live happily ever after.

While Sparks will always have his iconic novels such as the notebook I would really like to see a new concept for his novels.

The thing I liked best about The Longest Ride was how invested i became in Ira and Ruth’s story, it was heart warming to read about but also gut wrenching for Ira. I thought the two stories ended up tying together nicely and it was a satisfying ending.

This may just be my favorite Nicholas Sparks book to date and I have read all of them. This is a beautiful love story of two couples that leaves you guessing at the ways their stories will intertwine. Excellent read!!!
