This story was exactly what I was looking for - something interesting that allowed my brain just take a breath. I'd call this a poolside read. The characters are cool, the story keeps you turning the pages, and, beyond that, it's good fun.

Wow...
I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t. I did not really care for Tess and honestly thought Jack was a bit one dimensional.

This is a cute, easy, and quick read. It combines mystery with the paranormal, and even throws in the tiniest bit of romance. It's lighthearted, even though it's a murder mystery. The main characters are likable and have you rooting for them right from the beginning. I don't have the burning desire to run out and get the next book in the series right away, but I will definitely pick it up at some time in the future.

Fun easy read. The author has a hilarious turn of phrase and there were times I was actually laughing out loud.

3.5 stars. Fun paranormal cosy crime. Tess inherited half a Pawn Shop after her boss and mentor is murdered. When his nephew Jack inheritor of the other half and sexy ex military tiger shifter returns to town they team up to solve his murder ( and other related crimes) in the face of the Sheriff's incompetence.

I thought this was amusing, but a little light on content. I liked the characters but didn't think the romantic subplot was developed well enough. (Day seemed to be hinting at something interesting that never came to anything.) The plot stood alone, but I definitely felt the fact that it is a spin-off series. There were just too many references to past events the reader has no access to if they've not read the other series. The mystery was neatly set up, but the villain was dispatched with shocking ease and the whole thing felt anticlimactic. All in all, I liked it enough to read more of Day urban fantasy/ paranormal mystery writing, but not enough to call her a favorite.
