The blurb does a fantastic job describing what this is all about.
What makes this smart is the envisioned Hell that Satan presides over, as well as his complicated relationship with God.
Satan’s plight is understandable, and when he’s confronted with Jimmy he’s both appalled and titillated. What he soon learns is that Jimmy is not going to take no for an answer. This makes for a comical situation as Satan takes on more than he ever bargained for.
A snarky free short!

This was absolutely terrible, and I hated it. 10/10.

It's incredible how you can find something amazing, an instant favorite, completely by accident.
I was browsing the Hellboy tag in tumblr because I just finally watched the 2004 movie (it's great, btw—Del Toro always nails it), when I saw someone recommend this novella if you liked big, demonic, muscular men who are viewed as monsters but actually have a heart of gold, by the author of The House in the Cerulean Sea, which I loved. Also, monsterfucking. How could I not read it?
This story, though!! It blew my tits off! T. J. Klune's writing is witty and funny, crafting an hilariously inventive Hell and Heaven that had me snorting through the whole first half. I also could instantly connect to Satan, who suffers from loneliness and ennui, acts long-suffering at all times, and just wants to be happy, is all. Jimmy is also adorably chaotic (and definitely neurodivergent).
Their whole interaction left me stifling laugh after laugh while I surreptitiously tried to read at work. The story is unabashedly and joyously queer, as well, which shined through the whole read.
I didn't expect to find a favorite just like that, but damn. Gift from hell, eh?

Lmao I love TJ Klune so much.
Full of dark and/or crude humor and a shockingly large amount of heart. A thoroughly fun read.
