this was my most anticipated book ever and it kinda let me down. It was EXACTLY like the favor, just with more characters. The favor is one of my all time favorite reads so at first I was excited that it was similar but it there hit a point where I was just like "how much more could the MMC be like Dane". Dane and Dax were literally just the same character, which is just lightly creepy considering the FMC is Danes daughter. There were also just too many characters in this book that it was a little hard to keep track. Additionally the first 25% of the book went SO slow. I think that this book was about 100 pages too long. There was a lot of inner monologue that I skimmed because it was just kinda pointless and didn't really add to the story. I just think that overall this book was good but I think I might have built it up a little too much in my head or Idk. I think I just wanted more out of the story. I feel like I didn't really get any sort of connection between the characters at all. At least in the favor they worked together and had been working together for years so it felt like there was already a sort of built in connection but here it just felt a little flat. When they finally exchanged I love yous I just didn't really believe it and the way that Dax did it made me cringe a little. The epilogue was a source of major disappointment for me, I really wanted to see them years in the future (just like how the favor's epilogue was) but it wasn't. I hope Suzanne Wright continues writing about the couples she set up in this book. I think that when I reread it I'll like it more. hopefully.

This book just… had no plot. LMAO.

The book was pretty much nothing but annoying exes of both Dax and Addison’s getting on readers’ nerves. That’s it. That’s literally fucking it, from start to end. With Dax and Addison fucking thrown in every couple of chapters.

Dialogue was unnatural and stilted. Like, this author tried to use dialogue for storytelling purposes (which of course is what every author is supposed to do), but this author obviously was NOT GOOD AT IT because her characters sounded like they spouted off the encyclopedia. Just BLURGH. CRINGE.

And Dax just… got no fucking personality whatsoever. He was one-dimensional from start to finish. I knew NOTHING about this guy aside from the fact that he had siblings, parents, was stinking rich, and grunted. That’s fucking it. I still don’t even know what kind of food this guy liked. Oh, and the fact that he rolled his eyes at displays of excitement over the holidays.

Just a horrible, horrible book. This was an erotica, NOT A ROMANCE.

It was an ok book, not the best of Suzanne Wright but enjoyable. I think the main problem I had with this book was that Adie talked about her attraction to Mercier as if it was her hormones fault and not just her being attracted to him. Would she salivate over him if Lake was still alive? Because the way she talked about her attraction to him she would have. So that just gave me a bit of an ick.

Also, she thought very little about Lake and was always just going on and on about her hormones, add to it that she met Dax before Lake, and it made it look like she was just taking a break from Dax rather how the author was trying to portray that Lake was a very important partner in her life. This was addressed a bit more towards the end of the book which I enjoyed.

But overall I would say the book could have been like 2 times shorter. It looked like the author was trying to make this a slow-burn romance but managed to just make it an overly slow-paced book. It was interesting to see Suzanne Wright try something other than insta-love but it was still insta-attraction so not that far out of the same zone.

I loved the Favor and was so excited for Dane and Vienna’s daughter’s story!

Very similar to her parents, Addison entered a marriage of convenience with an old flame due to a pact. Dax was grumpy and refused to love. However, Addie’s continued loyalty changed his ways!

It was a bit too long. Spice was great!

One pov.

Muchos personajes. Mucho cringe. Mucho machismo y red flag. Una mezcla de tropes bizarros...
