Belladonna is a beautifully atmospheric, gothic read that hooked me right from the opening scene. The setting drips with mystery and darkness, and it creates the perfect backdrop for the story.
I enjoyed Signa as a main character—especially her journey of learning to embrace who she truly is instead of trying to force herself into being a “proper lady.” That growth was one of the highlights of the book for me. At times, though, she did veer into slightly annoying territory.
Some questions were left unresolved—why is Signa special, how exactly do her powers work, and what makes her different? The book doesn’t really give us answers, which left me a little unsatisfied.
The romance… well, let’s just say it was a bit strange. Death has been in Signa’s life since she was a baby, and while the gothic creepiness of it all fits the atmosphere, I still found it a little weird.
Overall, though, the book delivered a deliciously dark and gothic experience that I really enjoyed.
