I loved the vibes and the mystery aspect but the romance was so weird--between Death knowing her from infancy, him isolating her by killing all of her guardians, and literal shadow *spice*, it felt so icky.

A gothic romantasy in the middle of the 19th century in which the FMC can talk to ghosts and Death himself? SIGN ME UP. Gosh, I love Death as a character in art. There is just something about him, and this one is cocky. I like it Picasso.
