WELL WELL WELL DO I HAVE SOME NOTES ON THIS BOOK
let’s just say Alina is a stronger woman than I because if the Darkling/Benjamin Barnacles wanted to rule the world with me I would’ve said OK and thrown myself at him.
Even if he enslaved orphans and committed mass murder.
Seriously tho. I think the Darkling is one of the most well done TRUE morally grey characters. He literally has done so many evil things but I also completely see his point of view. My man just loves Ravka and the Grisha and SO DO I. Ugh I wish he didn’t have to die but it was so tragical and he was just beyond saving (I could fix him).
NIKOLAI MY DREAMBOAT. Yet again, if a beautiful, sassy prince proposed to me I WOULD BE THROWING MYSELF AT HIM. When he showed up in a fricking tree to save everyone, UGH SO GOOD. I missed him so much even though jt had been like 75 pages. This book Nikolai said *I want to be a batboy too.* I am so so relieved he got such a good ending and is going to be king

I ate this trilogy up. Licked the plate clean. Really enjoyed the world building, the characters, the plot, the storytelling…everything except one thing. I don’t want to give it away here so if you end up reading the series and want to discuss afterwards, let me know!

Book one: I hate Zoya. Genya rocks.
Book two: Zoya is kinda cool. Genya...ummmm
Book three: I'm officially a Zoya stan. Genya is great, though.
What I liked:
1) Team development and bond they created. Kinda had that SOC energy.
2) Mal's secret (and I feel proud that I kinda guessed it before- not him being a weapon, but him being a descendent)
3) Bold Genya. Genya-David's sweet relationship.❤️
4) The twins. Tamar and Tolya
Book two: Zoya is kinda cool. Genya...ummmm
