TOP PART IS SPOILER-FREE.
This is my favorite book in the Rokesby series. Poppy is very spunky, the dialogue is great, and there were parts of this book that I genuinely did not see coming. The second half of the book is faster than the first, and I had trouble putting the book down at that point.

Now to address other reviews: Many have stated that this is just a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome. I hear the argument, but I don’t necessarily agree.
STOP HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS.

First, now that everyone else is gone - Woah, I did not foresee the kidnapping of Poppy and Andrew in Portugal!
Ok - SS: This is a diagnosis used to describe when the victim is in danger. However, Andrew made it very clear that he did not want to keep Poppy aboard but felt he had no choice due to the time restrain he was on and the secrecy of the cave. Once on board, she was not in further danger. Andrew would not let her on deck to protect her from the crew, he didn’t share a bed with her (taking the floor & then bunking in another room), he made sure she was well-fed, and he tried to protect her and get her released in Portugal. In addition, he himself did not capture her and expressed that she would be returning home in two weeks’ time, even allowing her (nay, asking her) to write to her friend. Thus, I feel it was not SS, but merely romance that bud from an unfortunate/unfavorable situation.

Eh- ok I guess. Just curious to see what a Julia Quinn romance was like after watching Bridgerton on Netflix.
