SPOILERS The protagonist spends the first 2/3 of this book locked in a cabin on a ship. There is curiously little romance or adventure in this “pirate like” romance. The reader does get to hear how hot the captain is for the protagonist eventually, but pants situation aside, the “romance” is pretty mellow? At one point, they have a prolonged discussion about a puzzle. At a different point, he tells her how to build a house of cards? And after a week (a week!) of surface-level conversations once a day, and one dry kiss, they are “in love?” Apparently.

There is some action and romance, it’s all just crammed into the last 1/3, and even then, some of that takes place “off screen” as it were.
