The story primarily taking place aboard a ship and then briefly in Lisbon and Kent felt like a nice change of location. I liked Andrew from the first book and he only improved as the lead. Poppy was a perfect match and the banter made this story that much more enjoyable.
I hoped for more drama when they were reunited, and I would have preferred they saw each other at the same time.
I’m hopeful some updates about their family will be included in the fourth book.

I have so far not loved the prequel series as much as the main Bridgerton series, until I reached this book! I'm a sucker for the tropes in this book. Everything was so good! Definitely my favourite, but I still have the last book to go.
I thought Poppy was such a brilliant lead in this, I loved how her mind worked. Andrew was so swoony, loved his whole noble pirate aesthetic. Also what a bop with the kidnapping/forced proximity combo. I will read any book with these tropes and EAT IT UP. I thought the ending was so sweet, that he went to look for her and then she was practically hand delivered to him immediately. Thank the lord for Julia Quinn!

Are harlequin romances and plots unequivocally mutually exclusive? Like, how did a book with literally no plot get published? Honestly, if any of you out there know of romance books that still have enthralling plots, hit me up. I’d love to know where those are hiding.

I think the author’s writing was certainly good, but honestly I didn’t buy the attraction between Poppy and Andrew. And, in a romance book, that’s kind of the most important thing to sell to your readers. I didn’t feel their love growing. But then all of a sudden they can’t live without each other? And how cheesy is it to end the book with a baby being born nine months later? Give me and damned break.
