Wow such a great book but it's truly got me messed up
George killing Lennie isnt the ending i was expecting at first i figured maybe thered be a chase and gun death but no

Lennies such a nice character he means well and George and him do feel like they care about each other
which makes the ending worse especially when George tells him to remember he was never mad at him

Short fast and devastating three words for this book but good

This is a good read but also a truly hard and painful experience. As you go through the book you have to ask yourself these deep grievances and what you think was right. Why did he stay with him. Was what George did at the end what needed to be done. Was it truly merciful to Lennie?

I don't really know what to think about this story. You get why it happened the way it happened (trying not to say any spoilers here) but did it have to happen? It really makes you think.
It's a tragic story about friendship. I think 'tragic' is really the word to decribe this story. The story made me feel sad and I, again, don't really know what to think about it.
The writing style was good! I'd like to pick up another book of Steinbeck just because of his writing style. I got into the story from the very first page and it never bored me or anything like that. This is definitely a classic that you can read easily, and even in one day, if you're looking for that!

Reading this in school was an awful experience which I can still remember. As a disabled student, watching your peers laugh at the death of a disabled person and have their idea of disabled people as dangerous and animalistic is disheartening to say the least. Of course, adult readers can have different takeaways of the book and come away it’s a more nuanced understanding; however, I found that the book doesn’t convey the injustices well enough to be required reading, and does more harm than good.

A harrowing tale of ostracisation, one that is unforgiving and gut-wrenching. Feels a bit draggy at times, but it is a literary classic for its intricate detailing of racism in early America, as well as the fading American dream for those who are simply unable to achieve it.
