it was heavy on the wattpad fanfic vibes, but not to an overwhelming point. definitely reminded me of ‘after’, but with not as heavy of a toxic relationship.
the spicier scenes just made me roll my eyes, but i blame it on the fact that i didn’t really care for them. while i did think what cooper did, with the hotel and the candles, was sweet, i genuinely thought it would take a bit more convincing, but this is a young adult romance and there were, like. 3 pages left, so i can’t have that big of an argument about that
pretty basic read. it wasn’t overly exciting nor overly boring.

It’s my first Elle Kennedy read and it was WAY better than I expected. In my experience, « steamy » rhymed with « cringy », so my expectations for an interesting story was a bit low. I was pleasantly surprised. I could’ve read this book in one sitting. There are so many characters and they are all fun to follow and complexed. The love story is predictable, but not too much. The steamy bits are well balanced as well. Well done!

This is a very good first book for the series. Already added the second one in my TBR.

*Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in return of an honest review*

I liked this book. I started reading it with no expansions and it surprised in some aspects.

I liked the character development, though it's a bit faulty towards the end. The characters get too messy for my taste. Mackenzie can spit on my face and I'd thank her.

I wasn't a fan of the "I'm not like other girls" trope during the first half of the book. But it subsided and that's when I appreciated the romance more.

DISCLAMER: I do not support EK. I received an arc of this book before I knew of her being problematic and had to review it!!
