This novel had a bit of a different feel from the others in the series. The main plot still focuses on one of the Brothers (this time it's Phury), but there is a pretty large secondary plot this time in addition to the sub-plot of the Lessers. The secondary plot follows John Matthew and his friends, and there are some very big developments. And the Lessers sub-plot has a pretty major development as well. So for anyone following the series, if you thought there were twists before now, be prepared for more of the unexpected.
I love the way the author has developed this universe. She is really good at making the reader feel for the characters, to the point of even making ones that were hated in earlier books more sympathetic in this one (seriously, I couldn't stand Rehv before, but now... I just don't know how I feel about him). And she has such a way of developing plotlines that intertwine naturally - the writer in me would love to know how far ahead she has things plotted out.
Obviously, you shouldn't be reading this book unless you've read the five leading up to it. This is a series that you need to read in order because the characters are developed throughout and the plot of each builds upon (and references) the one(s) prior to it. But if you're into the series, this one is not going to disappoint. There are even a couple of surprises that I didn't see coming, which always makes things more enjoyable.

So this is a re-read and first time reviewing this book. The first go around I marked this as a 3 out of 5 Star’s well I have bumped it up to a 5 Star.
I think I would go back to a 4 Star after this reread (2018)
Phury may not be my favorite brother but he did step up to the plate for V even if he took his sweet time doing it.
What I liked about this book was not only that we get to see more of the Chosen but we get to see Cormia come into her own. She isn’t just a Chosen she is also a separate being and watching her grow throughout the book was really a great thing to see.
We also get to see John Matthew come into his own a little bit more. We see him interested in someone for the first time. I do love how Xhex senses his lust and how she tells him to say her name. Then he gets her back with his note. Love that!
Also, we get to see Tor a little and that’s awesome he is one of my most favorite brothers. As well as getting more Rev, he and I have the love-hate thing going on. I don’t like what his club stands for but I understand now why he is how he is. Can’t wait for the never few books.
Finding my love of this series again is amazing and awesome and I am so glad I choose to go to the discussion group.

Certainly not my favorite of the series, but then Phury is certainly not my favorite brother. He's so whiny! I did like the exploration of drug addiction in this one, but Cormia bothered me. I hated the constant miscommunication happening between her and Phury.
By far the best part of this book was the development of the Qhuinn/Blaylock/John Matthew relationship. I love these boys as a sort of "next generation" Brotherhood, and they bring a fresh perspective to all of the Brothers' sob stories and pity parties.
I'm still not sure how I feel about Rehvenge, but I guess I have a whole new book to decide.

#6 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. About a bunch of vampires protecting the race. These vampires don't drink human blood but survive drinking blood from the opposite sex vampires which makes this series special and different. Series include lots of sex, cursing, fighting and humour. The characters are the best.
This was surprisingly best one so far! Even though focus is on Phury who isn't even one of my favourites. But this one didn't follow the same routine than the previous ones. There was bigger plot evolving, a few surprises and new characters which made me excited. At one point I was so touched that I had tears in my eyes.
These books are fun, interesting, sexy & easy-to-read.

So far, this was my least favorite book I've read in this series--though I didn't have the heart to give this less than a 4-star rating because the writing was SO GOOD. I loved getting to know Qhiunn and Blay a little more too. Not saying that Phury wasn't interesting enough, but I hate reading depressing storylines. I found myself fighting the urge to skip ahead.
out of all of the black dagger brotherhood books that I read so far, this one has got to be my least favorite. I always felt like Phury was a really interesting character, but I honestly don’t like the way his story was done. I felt like his inner turmoil was dragged out just a little too much for me and I don’t feel like I saw enough of Phury & Cormia’s love grow. I thought the most interesting part of this book was the story line between John Matthew & his friends & Lash.
J.R. Ward is the best author when it comes to exciting supernatural storytelling. She has many different storylines about different charachters going, but yet they all tie in together at some point. These storylines are so good, you get invested in this Brotherhood and there are points where I truly wonder if the main characters will live to see the end of the book. If you haven't read this series yet, you need to. Don't let the vampire thing stop you. If you like action, with all the feels, and some hot sex thrown in, you will love the Black Dagger Brotherhood!
A didn't have the feeling that this was the worst part of the series (as the rating shows). It was classic, this time full of action and I actually liked Phury :) So good job...

Another angsty brother! This book had it's moments but mostly it dragged. It felt very repetitive at times.
Things are changing in the lessening society again, now the Omega has a son. There are some huge holy hell type revelations this go around. I am a bug fan of a certain fallen angel who joins their ranks!
I am not a fan of the whole upper crust vampire world. It kinda acts counter productive to Wrath as king. And the whole snobbery is a little over done.
I might have been worried about Bella and Zadist pregnancy if the epilogue of his book had not included a scene with all three of them. Way to kill the drama.
Not a lot of steam on this one until the end. Then it was rather hot and heavy.
I still like the alternating narrative and how it is more than the main romance in the book that you see the POV for throughout. What can I say I am hooked and will continue even though I found this book a but trying in the pace. So much going on and very exciting for future books!
