Literally sexualizes several minors. 13 year old gets panty scene.. 16 and 17 year old are nearly nude ðŸ«
I've watched and enjoyed the Soul Eater anime, so was interested in reading the manga too. It mainly follows the same storyline as the anime, but it felt a bit different. There are a lot of fun service shots, which I wasn't expecting as much of.
This volume does a good job of introducing the seven main characters and showing all the peculiarities of their personalities.
Despite having enjoyed the anime a lot, I find myself not too fussed about reading more of the manga after this volume.

so fun!!!!! if you ignore… all the gross horny-ness and blatant sexualization of minors, which i guess is a staple in early 2000s manga (all manga in general if we’re being real) but man i just love the art style so much. the character designs have me on my knees, i love them so much

why are there SO many naked women/girls? I like the concept of weapons being humans etc and I like Maka but I feel like I've seen more almost-naked female bodies in this single volume than I wish to see in a whole series.

This my second time reading this manga. It is still a favorite; however I forgot how pervy some of the scenes were in this volume. Overall, I did still deeply enjoy the introductions it gave of the characters I fell in love with years ago. The volume is divided by 4 sections; the first chapter follows the meister/weapon pair Maka and Soul Evans as they try to make Soul, a demon scythe, into a death scythe. The second introduces the team of Black Star and Tsubaki and the third is about Death the Kid (my favorite character), the son of the Shinigami (Death God), and his partners Liz and Patty, twin sisters who keep the neurotic Kid in line. The final chapter is the start of the real storyline and ends in a cliffhanger that makes you want to read more.
