I liked the idea that the story centers around an unlikeable character and I was intrigued enough to want to know how the book ends. At the same time I found the execution of the idea lacking. 
It explained how the hunger games came about a little too neatly which made it almost feel forced. And I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters because the book focussed very little on emotions

I can't praise this book enough. Suzanne Collins has such a special way of writing that manages to always keep me engaged and wanting to know more. I didn't even mind the slower parts the way I do in other books because they added so much to the story. Every sentence felt perfectly crafted to contribute to the themes of the story. I honestly already want to read it again and again.

Not a special bad or good book.
Solid historic backstory and circumstances influencing the  creation of the hunger games and Mr. Snow we know were.
Overall themes is definitely more toxic friend-/relationships and the romance.
The actual hunger games were quite short and POV is Mr. Snow. 
A lot of relationships are not really fleshed out and I would have loved seeing more details here and a less "sudden" development of certain relationships. 

Would recommened for fans who want to spend more time/revisit this setting. But it was not a pageturner.
The german audio book was well done!
