I guess I should have known when it said issues #78-83 that I would me missing some context and my very basic Batman knowledge was not enough to cover the gap :(
I didn't read any of the stories that came before this one and I still enjoyed every bit of this graphic novel. Full of humor, heart, and even some mystery. Loved how many other characters were brought in for cameos or longer stints. The art was sharp, expressive, and multi-layered. Looking forward to picking up the next volume.

The art style is stunning and it's definitely a fun and exciting read, however it lacks depth. I think due to its very fast paced nature, not enough time is given to develop meaningful character. Also, I hope the villains will be given more personality or better motivations because currently I could not care less about them. love the dog though and, once again, the art is gorgeous.

Good. All of it.
That ending when Bruce called? Augh. My heart.
Dick:

But he certainly will use it.

I’d give this book more stars if they were available!
Tom Taylor writes a perfect Dick Grayson. He understand him and knows the guy is pure heart. Bruno Redondo also gets Dick’s moves and looks, and I mean, there’s no other character in the DC Universe like Dick Grayson, both because of his background, being the first sidekick, but also because of his depth and evolution, and on top of that, Dick is also impossibly sexy without needing to brag. You can see that in every move!
Both creators absolutely capture the essence of the character, and paint this beautiful story with so much love that it gets impossible to not to adore every page.
Oh, and don’t get me started on the dog because I’ll fill this review with little hearts.

I was told this would be a great starting point if we were new to Nightwing and wanted to jump in - and I completely enjoyed this! The art with the cityscapes and the sunsets and the transitions were just so beautiful in this.
And Nightwing is pretty easy on the eyes too :D
