my only exposure to nightwing has been the occasional jaw-dropping fanart i see when it pops up on my socials. that man is beautiful so of course i've kept him in the backburner of my brain for years and now that i've made the leap (ha!) to get into graphic novels, i thought this would be a perfect start. the art is fantastic, the plot is engaging, and despite my general knowledge of batman/bat-family, i did in fact tear up at the end. one less star simply because it is a bit too fast-paced for my taste and it's the first volume so everything is being set up.

I don't know if this is a me thing, a comic thing, or just a Tom Taylor thing, but I just could not get into this. Pretty much nothing happens, action or character development, in an entire 5 issues.
There were bits of interest, but overall it was blah.
If you want a good "rebuilding life in a city" comic, read Palmiotti/Connor's Harley Quinn run, I feel like they did it better
Also Bludhaven will never be Gotham! Bludhaven is just any city in America, no spice. Gotham is manic-pixie-dream-girl-ing all over the place. Builds character. Bludhaven is the Gotham you have at home.

Someone described this as a love letter to the character and I couldn’t agree more!
This felt like a fresh but nostalgic take on Nightwing. Tom Taylor is so good at this *wink wink* X-Men Red…
ALSO
Don’t sleep on Bruno Redondo and Cian Tormey! I was blown away by how vibrant and energized the art was! That sun flare with Babs walking away

I just feel like in a character SOLO its a problem if multiple characters from other runs appear in quite literally every issue instead of the title character having a cast of their own (as they have had in previous runs).
