a great and advenurous single book fantasy with an interesting story about the dead, spirits and the power they hold
Around me, some of the other novices were wrinkling their noses and trying to persuade their partners to handle the more disgusting aspects of inspecting the [dead]bodies. Personally, I didn't mind. I preferred the company of the dead to that of the living. They didn't gossip about me, for one thing.
definetliy recommend if you like kinda dark atmospheric fantasy stories, and easy but good worldbuilding a 400 page book!

A premissa é muito boa e original, com momentos muito fortes. Eu amei os personagens, as relações e os conflitos, principalmente a relação Artemisia/Revenant.
Mas achei que faltou algo ali no meio, sabe? A leitura acaba se tornando um pouco arrastada depois de um tempo, e o desenrolar da trama foi um pouco anticlimático.
O epilogo foi muito bem trabalho e desenvolvido, trazendo o que esse livro tem de melhor: emoção.
*Eu passei por uma fase dificil durante essa leitura, o que acabou me desanimando bastante..então também levo isso em consideração.

3.5 stars from a technical standpoint (I feel like there were aspects of the plot and facets of the characters that felt underdeveloped) but 5 stars for enjoyment, literally finished this book in a weekend, could not put it down!

Molto buono questo nuovo libro di Margaret Rogerson: bella l'ambientazione, curata e dettagliata, intrigante la trama anche se alcuni passaggi risultano un pò scontati, interessanti e ben descritti i personaggi. Non mancano alcuni nei, con cui il libro si è giocato la quinta stella: in primis, la sensazione di sottofondo è che comunque sia un qualcosa di già visto e già letto, poi è un pò troppo breve, alcuni personaggi avrebbero meritato qualche approfondimento in più.

There is no shortage of some flaws, with which the book earned its fifth star: first of all, the underlying feeling is that it is something already seen and already read, then it is a little too short, some characters would have deserved some in-depth analysis more.

This was the first book I read for bookclub with my college roommates. I really enjoyed how sassy the Revenant is! I really enjoyed reading such a strong FMC's POV. The religious undertones/themes throughout the book were very interesting as well!
