A fun time. I liked learning about the different revenants and undead. Oddly enough, I felt like I was in the Cathedral of the Deep, even though the tones of this book and Dark Souls are incredibly different.
I didn't enjoy the writing style too much. It wasn't terrible, but it was very straightforward. I also thought that the writing should've felt more serious due to the topics covered in this book.
ALSO, this book did my least favorite thing; it ended with a vague mention of a second book. As far as I know, this is a standalone book. It would be really awesome if the next story is Artemisia when she's older and she meets Leander again. Hm.

Super enjoyable! I love a good religious fantasy adventure novel, and this one was gripping. Couldn't put it down!

DNF'd, just didn't click and I am tired of loner protags that are antagonistic to the people around them. Just not vibin'.

After reading Sorcery of Thorns, I was beyond excited for this. And Margaret Rogerson did not disappoint. I don’t think everyone will be able to appreciate this story but it’s simply brilliant. From the world building to the action filled pacing. My favourite part: the characters. The way Margaret Rogerson wrote such complex characters was chefs kiss. The trauma, the pain, it was handled and executed so well. This entire book was so unique and refreshing.

Vespertine was the third book I’ve had the pleasure of reading after an enchantment of ravens and sorcery of thorns, and I think this was my favorite so far. With its lack of romance, and focus on death and possessions, Vespertine was refreshingly different. I absolutely loved the revenant, especially its relationship with Artemisia. The humor and sass were perfect in bringing a balance to an otherwise dark novel. I really hope there is a part 2, so that I can get more of Artemisia and the revenants relationship. Based on the ending, it seems there will be more to come.
