So atmospheric and enchanting. I loved listening to the audiobook for this. The story felt like a bedtime story. The characters were good and the plot was interesting. I can’t wait to read the next one.

I think I’ve become a bit too used to “special” MCs in stories, that now I immediately grow bored of them. When all other characters are obsessed with the MC, in a good or bad way, it takes away from the story for me. Also, I’m so over the whole “ugly but still beautiful” thing some of these heroines have going on.

The prose was beautiful, but the story itself lacked for me, mainly because the characters didn’t strike me as very unique. I just wasn’t invested in them (I had hopes for Anna’s story but she ended up being a classic stepmother archetype). Just wasn’t my type of story.

I loved this book! Russian folklore woven into a fantastic fiction. So well written, mysterious and enchanting!
