This one is so hard to read because Aisling is so pathetically obsessed with Sam. He treats her like shit and ignored her for 10 years and does ZERO groveling. Grow a back bone and make him work for it a bit. Don’t fold the first time he does something nice
The beginning was kinda hot, the middle was a big meh, and the ending was sort of cute. My advice? Skip the middle chapters.
DNF. Wow. Girl you the biggest doormat. Makes me sad for any girl who reads this. If you let a guy treat you like shit he does. Shocking.
3.5/5⭐️
THE GROVELINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. the way aisling made sam work for her was the cherry on top for me.
i didn’t enjoy sam and aisling as much as cillian and persephone, but i did like their dynamic. both of them connected on something so dark yet so meaningful, it was very beautiful to read.
sam was lowkey funny af, but aisling really deserved a hug and some hot chocolate. i felt so bad for her reading this so i’m glad she became stronger throughout the story

This book was a miss for me.
I really enjoyed the two prior books in this series. There was great character development and interesting transformations that lead to meaningful relationships.
This has so many problems.
First, as a health care professional, I absolutely despised the portrayal of Aisling's "work." Palliative sedation is not controversial and is totally legal. There was no need to make that seem shady, and thank you for reinforcing that very outdated idea and likely contributing to someone's fear when their loved one is dying.
Second, medical aid in dying is rightfully identified as legal in many countries, including Canada. However, the health care professionals involved do not see themselves as "monsters" and there is not the remotest similarity to an actual murderous mafia mobster. What an atrocious parallel to draw!!! Even when health care providers did this before it was legal, it was out of a sense of wanting to ease suffering, not being a "monster." An absurd false equivalence. And I say this as someone who would never participate in MAiD, but seriously, this is such a disservice to those who do.
Third, Sam is an absolute asshole and misogynist. Hunter and Cillian had some serious challenges in their lives for various reasons, but they were redeemable. He is beyond cruel to Aisling over a prolonged period with multiple actions that are well into the controlling realm, flirting with abusive. The hint at the end that he got her pregnant on purpose without her knowledge or consent - not even a little bit cute. That is straight up a sexual assault.
Fourth, I'm going to confess I do not know much about the underworld, so I assume there probably are mobsters married to doctors, but ugh, what a terrible combination. There is no convincing reason for them to be together - unless you accept they are both monsters. Why a woman would fall in love with a guy like Sam is beyond me. There is just nothing likeable or loveable about him.
This book was shorter than the prior two, but it was so painful to read it took me almost a week when I usually read a book in day. I love this author and this series so I kept reading to see if she could turn this around. She did not.
Do not recommend.

Dickhead. Seriously the only bearable thing was badass Aisling, but come one girl 10 YEARSSSS for this dude, nahhhh
I really enjoyed this book quite a bit. I always love the idea of a bad guy and the good girl. But something that I enjoyed quite a bit about this book is that Ash wasn't quite as 'good' as everyone said she was. Now, she was no where near the caliber of Sam. She also was still very much a good girl, but she did have her secrets. The only thing about this story that I didn't love was how long it took Sam to just treat her like an actual person. I kind of feel like he didn't grovel for long enough to win her back, but that's just me.
I loved the dynamic between the pair and how she made him work for her. All these books endings just make me so happy
Wow! So it’s starts off as your typical mafia style romance, but wow!! I did not expect what comes. And I didn’t expect to cry towards the end either. Wasn’t ready for it. Beautiful story. I loved the back stories as well. So well written (as always).
