*WOW*.. So I almost didn't read this one because of the overwhelming 1 star reviews I saw.
But I'm glad I decided against it because when I started going through the reviews I noticed it wasn't something about the book that offended most of those people but the author. And if I'm being honest, there are so many times that I don't even care about remembering the name of the author because it's irrelevant to me who the author was if I enjoyed the read.
And ever since I found L.J Shen, I've almost never been disappointed with her writing. Sure, it may be repetitive but you have to remember that if it's under the same genre, there's always a chance of similarities and clichés- especially if the stories are coming out of the same mind. And yes, I still do enjoy every single read of hers. And that is the reason I have read almost every single book of hers.
I just want people to keep their opinions to themselves because sometimes, people like me, don't really care about the artist's or the author's personal life (unless they're a r*pist or serial killer) because we just want to enjoy what we like to read or watch or listen to without it being affected by others bad reviews. I'm glad I didn't let the bad reviews affect my judgement.

wtf is up with this trope where guys are incredibly sexist and treat women like trash including the heroine but then at the end they decide that maybe the heroine is okay and never apologize for the incredibly demeaning way they treat women?? this relationship is not cute, sam is not some tortured bad boy, and having a shitty childhood doesn't make it ok to be an abusive asshole

There’s just something about the brother’s friend trope that I enjoy.
❗️SPOILERS❗️
There were a few times when I wanted to tell Aisling to stand up. Sam was quite the douchebag. He didn’t do a complete 180 transformation, and I felt it was believable for his character. Did he grovel as much as he should have-no. He did change though.
Him bringing a date who was a replica of Aisling was icky. I’ve seen it before in other stories, and I’m not a fan.
Aisling working in the under the radar clinic made sense to me. I’m glad she didn’t stick with it though. In a way it was about her letting go of her past and moving forward.

✨ BIG FAT SPOILER WARNING✨
this book is literally my 13th reason
me reading the blurb - omg we're going to be served with unrequited love turns into obsessed boy trope? love in the dark and secret romance? aisling also being the monster in their story? and she's not a doormat?

This story definitely took me on a ride! The monster & Nix’s love story is bitter sweet and the ending made me that much happier! I hope LJ will do a ending book for all the Boston Belle’s and show us their lives 5 years later!

2.5 stars this was another one of my most anticipated reads and it did not fail. i was always intrigued by sam's character while reading the villain so i wanted his book immediately. he is so sexy at times i love him. the only downfall i can think of is how he always referred to himself as the monster.. that got old quick. and another thing that really annoyed me is how he would take ash at any time no matter what she said or did but then suddenly he wouldn't do anything without her consent? and don't get me started on how embarrassing it was reading about her throwing herself at him ... anyway i think the plot itself was fine and intriguing enough to finish this book in like....? 5 hours? but i did definitely enjoy cillianpersy more than them :( but i prefer sam over kill. this is kind of all over the place but it is a solid read and i would probably rr!
forget everything this review said i've actually decided this is one of the worst books i've read this year lol. ^^ i wrote most of that when i was like half done and didn't absolutely despise the book but thinking back it was terrible. his character "development" was just not it and aisling is hella embarrassing. this is why i'm sticking to cillianpersy sorry no other lj book serves like them.. lj please for the love of god never write mafia romance this was bad
