Oh my

Potential for spoilers so read at own risk.

I have been waiting for this book for a year, it was the one I was waiting for from the Boston Belle series and my oh my Queen L.J did not disappoint.

The man is to die for and the woman has a back bone. Put that together with love, sass, betrayal, and a HEA and that is a cocktail made in the Underworld for me.

5 star read

Monster, Monster, Monster

Let me start by saying I love L. J. Shen’s books! I was hooked on The Hunter and The Villian so of course I was excited to read The Monster. However I felt this book was lacking. I wasn’t very interested until about 80%. This one definitely took me longer to get through as I got sick of how awful Sam was to her and how waif like Aisling was and how she just kept sleeping with Sam.

I really thought about half way through Aisling would stand up for herself, maybe try to date someone else and help Sam realize how he felt then. Instead she just kept going back to her old ways. I get tired of reading these men who always treat when like crap and then suddenly change their mind. It’d be nice to have that reversed for a change where there is a strong female.

Lastly, I know the title of the book was The Monster but good grief...how many times did it have to be written into it?? I would have understood the title from just the 1st chapter. I didn’t have to read Monster 100x’s to get the picture.

I’m hoping book 4 is better and finishes the series on a strong note. We’ve read how strong minded and mysterious Belle is...please don’t let it be a complete flip of character!

DID NOT FINISH

Disappointingly, i had to give up on this. I found Aisling fairly pathetic, and Sammy didn't live up to my expectations either.

The Monster: ★ ★ ★ ★ . 5

L.J. Shen (Boston Belles #3)

"It was always Monster. And I was his Nix."

Unexpected. This book blew my mind with the absolutely astounding way that this story unfolded.

I finished this book last week and it’s been on my mind non-stop! I’ve re-read it so many times. So many drool-worthy scenes!

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been waiting for Sam Brennan almost since the day I was born (plus Sam was born in August too so we are literally soulmates and everyone can back off). Ruthless, dashing, and terrifying with an ever-present challenging smirk plastered on his beautiful face. A monster–through and through. But, behind that rough exterior is a boy who went through more than anyone could have before the age of 9, and a man who never felt like he truly belonged. Sam’s backstory is heartbreaking and though he stands tall, there’s a lot of cracks in his soul. He’s a complex character, who owns his personality with finesse and calm. Even though he may have some jagged edges, deep down, there’s something so very soft about him. For a man who thinks he is incapable of love, Sam is a phenomenal lover. He’s possessive, hot, and would do anything for his Nix.

Aisling Fitzpatrick was the most jarring surprise. “Elegant and aristocratic,” as Sam says, absolutely. But, she is so much more. Ash is such a complex character. She loves unapologetically, wears her heart on her sleeve, and gives so much of her to people–even Sam, when he least deserves it. Let it be known, she is no doormat. She is strong, with a spine of steel, and knows her worth. Aisling is a surprise.

Sam and Aisling have so much history that no one in their family is privy to. The world seems to be against them and yet, like two magnets in the middle of a war-torn field, they find one another.

Samuel Brennan and Aisling Fitzpatrick are so meant to be. Their story is magical, their love is profound, and they are so very beautiful.

A heart-melting whirlpool of romance, angst, lust, and most importantly, love.

4,5 Sterne

least fave so far. Sam was awful. Ainsling I was rooting for you girl.

ashling x sam

Sam is trying to get back at her dad because he thought he killed his brother. She is a doctor but kills people to get them out of their misery. They both end up out of their jobs because the other doesn’t want them to work there anymore. And she is currently pregnant. The end

Two Monsters are better than one. Ash is no shrinking violet she holds darkness inside her. What do you expect when she’s been raised by the baddest men in town. Only a monster could claim her as his own,

I loved Sam and Aisling story. This is a story where both of them are trying to make a difference there own way. They are more alike then they know. Don’t want to give any spoilers. This was a great additions to the Boston Belle series.
