I was very excited for this story and it did not dissapont. I loved how Aisling always loved Sam. Some might find it stupid but I'm a cancer and a hopeless romantic so I love these kind of stories. I loved that Sam got his head out of his ass. Kill and Persy are still my favorite but this book was bomb too. Even though both had their stubborn moments they were not so much so that it bothered me. I enjoyed every second of this book.

2.5 stars this was another one of my most anticipated reads and it did not fail. i was always intrigued by sam's character while reading the villain so i wanted his book immediately. he is so sexy at times i love him. the only downfall i can think of is how he always referred to himself as the monster.. that got old quick. and another thing that really annoyed me is how he would take ash at any time no matter what she said or did but then suddenly he wouldn't do anything without her consent? and don't get me started on how embarrassing it was reading about her throwing herself at him ... anyway i think the plot itself was fine and intriguing enough to finish this book in like....? 5 hours? but i did definitely enjoy cillianpersy more than them :( but i prefer sam over kill. this is kind of all over the place but it is a solid read and i would probably rr!
forget everything this review said i've actually decided this is one of the worst books i've read this year lol. ^^ i wrote most of that when i was like half done and didn't absolutely despise the book but thinking back it was terrible. his character "development" was just not it and aisling is hella embarrassing. this is why i'm sticking to cillianpersy sorry no other lj book serves like them.. lj please for the love of god never write mafia romance this was bad

Okay, I like a lot of Shen's books but this one was just not it.
I know the title of the book is 'The Monster', I don't need to be reminded at every turn of the page what a monster Sam is. Not that he exactly proves that he is a monster, I mean yes he kills people but he was more fucked up in the head than a monster. He is not a monster, he is just an asshole. Repeating it over and over does not suddenly make him a monster. Everything seemed to work out a bit too smoothly in the end.
The mafia just gives him 8% of their income because he decides to leave them alone after they put two bullets in him. Bullshit, that isn't how they work. At this point, I am just furious. I don't know what is with authors justifying that men with problems conveniently have mothers who were crackheads or not emotionally involved. This is some Christian Grey thing. I AM TIRED!
The more I write this review the angrier I get. I will stop here now
