It was cute and funny even with some of the tropes I generally don't enjoy

For my reference

I keep adding this to my TBR & then trying to start it and remembering there’s some themes/topics that just don’t work for me.

I’ve loved other books by House, the cover is awesome, and Nanny trope is a fav so I get all excited and then let down. And it’s all my fault.

I enjoyed this book, especially the humanity of the characters, and their believable actions and ways of speaking. About halfway through the book, it does get intermittently spicy, and to make room for the naughty bits, the story seems to accelerate to the point of feeling rushed. Even so, I this was a fun read, giving me the satisfaction of a made-for-TV movie with a HEA.

This was not my favorite. Like too much bad and annoying things were going on. I think the MMC staying with his horrible fiance for 30% of the book was a negative. I think that being the central conflict was frustrating considering the ex-girlfriend had a few valid reasons for being upset. But her over the top reaction made her seem unjustified. The first time we meet the FMC she is talking about a horrible shooting that we never reference again until the very end of the book. Then their entire relationship was just rushed. I was like why are they already married. We just missed out on stuff that happened off page. I'm glad I read the second book which imo was much better first. This would have easily deterred me from continuining on.

4⭐️ this book was not the best but I damn near gave it 5⭐️ just for not having a 3rd act break up!!!!!!! I think it’s really important for authors to know how to write characters used for conflict without over villainizing them. You don’t have to write someone who has no redeeming qualities just because you don’t want your mmc to be with them. And if you do write them in this way, why would he stay with a girl like that. The why in this book didn’t make sense at all to me. This is a 3⭐️ book but again I gave it 4 for the way these characters stayed together and the author wrote conflict in another way
