4.2 AVERAGE

I’ve heart from many people that this is one of the best Cassandra Clare’s series. I gave it a chance, I really did; however, I dnf’ed :/
Had I found this book in my teenage years, then perhaps I would have liked it, but now this story just feels boring to me. The book explicitly tries to be funny at times, but to me, the humor is mid here.
One thing that kind of ruined the reading experience for me was that I went into the book with certain expectations. For example, I expected the fantasy world to be more immersive (kinda?). I also couldn’t really resonate with the characters, i. e. I hardly cared for any of them (however, I couldn’t figure out why exactly I felt this way).
However, it was nice to see some characters I already know from the other series, which gave me a sense of nostalgia (*cough* Magnus Bane *cough*).
All in all, I cannot say anything really negative about this book, but there was almost nothing that could hook me up too.

One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.
#1: Clockwork Angel ★★★★☆

Meraviglioso, l'ambientazione di Londra è così suggestiva!
Lo stile di scrittura della Clare è migliorato tantissimo
adventurous challenging dark mysterious tense medium-paced
adventurous dark funny mysterious sad
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes

Ok. I *technically* didn't finish this book but I was only 50 pages short or so and that counts. I'm giving this one 2 stars and it truly makes me sad. I've known about this series for quite a long time and have always been hyping it up inside my head from reading all the rave reviews on this website and YT videos. Also, I got weirdly fascinated by the Chain of Gold series by the same author and wanted to finish this trilogy before jumping into that one...but alas, that's not a thing that's going to happen :(

It definitely felt like a YA, a younger one at that, but the writing wasn't really the one that made me disappointed. It's the fact that I just never felt too excited for the story or the characters. It did cure me out of my agonizing reading slump, I'll give it that. But the plot was really not that interesting to read about and neither of the male protagonists appealed to me (listen, I expected to love and possibly even worship Will Herondale but no, he's a jerk and I don't understand why the hell Tessa likes him in the first place. I bet it's pure appearances).

Anyhoo. This wasn't my thing and as much as I'm sad about it, I'm also glad I decided to borrow it from the library instead of buying the entire trilogy just to find out that I have no interest in reading them.
funny fast-paced

Finished in 2 daysssss
I really enjoyed it! So glad to be back in the Shadow Hunter World and Jem has my heart not gonna lie. Will is just like Jace somehow and I sense a great character development in Tessa.
Charlotte and Henry were also very golden but oof fk Jessamine
adventurous dark mysterious sad slow-paced

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but felt that it never really reached a climax. There were several awesome points, but I think -at least in this installment- Tessa is sort of a weak character. I like both Will and Jem, but I wonder as to how they feel about Tessa. I'm guessing more of this will be revealed in the next book. There were parts of the book that were kind of difficult to trudge through, but overall I enjoyed the quick read.
