I read this a couple years ago and this time I decided to listen to the audiobook. I had such a great time with this! I’m reading this after City of Glass, so diving back in time with Tessa, Will and Jem! What an interesting experience!

Okay so I finally read the TMI books last year and where I liked it at the start, it went a bit downhill after that and my overall feelings about that series is... mwah. Like it, don't love it.

I heard good things about these books though and book 1 didn't let me down. I liked this a lot more than TMI!

Hopefully this time I'll continue to like the rest of the series!

Absolutely loved the series. The characters, the plot , the world building I was utterly engrossed in it all . Would recommend the series to anyone and everyone

It took me a long time to read the Infernal devices series. I reread the Mortal Instruments series every so often, and having just finished that, went on to read the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, Simon's story. I'm glad I read those first, so I had a little more of an idea who Tessa and Jem were, at least. I loved the story - I love anything Shadowhunter - but I thought that this was a more involved book for an older audience than the first ones. Luckily, I bought the whole trilogy, so I could start right in on the second book, since not all of the story lines were resolved in this first book. It was a very interesting read, however - if you're a fan of the Shadowhunter world, you won't be disappointed.

A fun steampunk take on a world we know well.
