I had some issues with this. First, I really hate Will. Second, my expectations were super high because I absolutely loved TMI and I heard that TID is even better - and it was not. Not at all. I was hoping for a great main character, some other loveable characters (the only character I really liked was Jem), tons of twists and turns, lot of action and just a super enjoyable story in general. Didn't get any of these. I hated most of the characters, Tessa was pretty anoying most of the time, I predicted basically every ,,twist" that was coming, also the name Charlotte Branwell irritated me soo much.

i’ve been meaning to read this trilogy for YEARS and i’m not disappointed. i felt like the pacing was off mid-book but i can’t point out why. though i think some characters could’ve been better developed (won’t mention names because i don’t want to spoil it to anyone, but i don’t mean in the sense of fleshing out, rather progress made throughout the story), i imagine this will take place in the next books of the collection. i love will herondale and that’s all i’m gonna say on the matter. can’t wait to read the next one!

wished there weren’t so many classic literature references, as they took me out of the story quite a bit. but other than that, this was a fun read with interesting characters and dynamics. a promising start to a (hopefully) excellent trilogy!
