I bought this book as a token purchase on Independent Bookstore Day a year or two ago. I thought it would make a cute Christmas gift for one of my book club members. This book was not at all what I expected. Cute is not a word I would now use.

This is dark, twisty, and hilarious. Truly everything I want from a short story collection. This feels like if Agatha Christie wrote murder stories rather than murder mysteries.

Dastardly little tales of an elderly woman with methodical tendencies across every aspect of her life, including the acts of murder. Every story somehow more interesting than the last, the elderly woman is such a badass who has seen it all, that I found myself rooting for her on every turned page.

Read this one if you like murders with heart.

So excited to pick up part two.
