The premise of the story was good and the characters were quite well-rounded, but it wasn’t amazing.

DARE HAS MY HEART I LOVE THAT BOY SO MUCH!!!

ugh I loved this from the friendship, the angst, tension and feels this book gave me EVERYTHING and I can't fucking wait for the next book. I hated the ending it was so painful and I felt so sorry for my boy Dare, they both fucked up but I hate how the book made it seem as if everything was Dare's fault but Bay literally sang about his deepest secret to the WHOLE damn school after he told her in confidence! She fully fucked up there and I'm really annoyed at her for not understanding where Dare is coming from, yeah Dare shouldn't have gotten angry and aggressive but that's all that boy knows & has been brought up as a product of his father's abuse :(

Anyways bring on book 2 because the wait killing meeeeee

The Art of Falling For You is a beautiful, angsty story about falling in love for the very first time. This has to be one of the BEST books Maya Hughes has ever written!

I was transported back to my budding youth where new love is an emotion you've never experienced, much less understand how every touch, every look, every moment is a rush because it's new. You yearn to learn everything possible about the person you can't stop thinking about and you ache for their presence when you are apart. Maya Hughes wraps us in every single emotion that buds from this experience.

"My heart would never be the same. A piece would always belong to him and I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to let him go."- Bay

Both Bay and Dare have never known romantic love and they are both cautious about jumping into something that neither of them could, in a sense, come back from. They both sense whatever the draw is to each other, it's more than just attraction, it's something deeper.

Bay doesn't trust Dare from the very beginning. He is a football god and she is basically invisible. When he starts talking to her Bay is continually waiting for him to reveal she's being punked in some sort of horrible end of year school prank. Why would he suddenly, after 3 1/2 years notice her, it just doesn't make sense.

Dare, on the flipside, is leery to bring anyone into his messed up world. He honestly has no idea if he has a future beyond high school and his abusive father haunts his waking thoughts. The thought of sharing any of the bad stuff with the one good thing he's recently discovered in his life weighs so heavy upon him that sometimes he can hardly breathe.

The vulnerability between these two is so shattering while I felt emphatic for both. My heart continually ached, while I also sighed multiply over their young love. The ups and downs were beautiful and Bay and Dare enraptured me with their story. I had goosebumps so many times, and that was when my heart wasn't racing.

"Bay had ruined me for anyone who came after her, and I didn’t want there to be anyone else. It was like she’d been sent as a gift to me after so many years in the dark."- Dare

Also, the title of this book couldn't have been any better as I felt like I was falling into a  piece of artwork. A love story like they shared was similar to brush strokes on a canvas. Each color combining to make a beautiful picture, but one wrong stoke could change the entire composition.

While this is just the first leg of this overall journey, and my heart is aching for it to continue, I'm torn up for both characters. Their journey and their life is so touching, it is a must read for 2021!

Honestly, this book took me by surprise, I was waiting for a sweet and cute romance like in Maya´s previous books, and even if this book is all of those things it's also very angsty, which made me love it even more.
I love how the sole focus of the book was introducing us to Dare and Bay and their relationship, I think it was a perfect way for readers to connect with the story, the characters and to understand them better, this way a second chance romance with time jump doesn't seem boring or with not build up.
The characters were also phenomenal, and the plot twist at the end... yeah never saw that coming, but after all, it made so much sense, I cant wait to see how their story will develop in the next 2 books, I need them to get their happy ending <3

Maya. What did you do to my heart?

This book was everything I didn't know I needed. I kept thinking, HOW IS THIS BOOK CONNECTED TO FULTON U?? And well....I definitely find out at the end.

I felt all of the things with this book. Bay and Dare were just everything. Their relationship growing and how Dare pursued her. I was here for all of it. I loved the way they just knew each other and how natural their relationship felt. I could feel the love and sadness through the pages.

Dare and Bay are both broken characters, but they are trying to mend themselves back together. The writing was phenomenal and I think Dare is becoming my favorite of Maya's Heroes. YES. I said what I said.

Not nearly interesting enough for me to read 3 books about the same couple. Bay was extremely bland, and I didn't care anything about her. Dare wasn't much better for a MMC. I just couldn't bring myself to care about what was going on in their lives. Then, getting to the end and realizing it's a Trilogy? This is where I end my journey with these two.
