I've read some of Robbi's other stories and enjoyed them, but this one missed the mark. I'm not sure where the reviews praising this story for being funny came from, I didn't even work up a chuckle. The plot (I'm using the term loosely) is all very contrived, the Shakespeare references were overdone and got annoying the further into the story I got and the main couple spend barely any time together but somehow manage to fall in love.

If you really want to read a book by Robbi, then I'd recommend Not Every River instead. The characters in that story actually spend enough time together to form a believable relationship and there's an actual plot with supporting characters that aren't annoying caricatures.

A light read that I rounded up to three stars. McCoy is a fan of Shakespeare and has crafted a book that emulates The Bard's farcical plots of twins, mistaken identities, long lost/found relatives and HEA for the heros and justice for the villians. As the book is set in an Oregon town that appears to be dedicated to Shakespeare and the Arts (like Stratford in Canada) everybody and their brother (especially their brother) was quoting lines from a number of plays. Unfortunately, by a third of the way through the book I was firmly in Ellie's camp with the "No Shakespeare" sign. A friend who's book judgement I trust really enjoyed it for the same reasons I was cringing over, so it all comes down to how much you love Shakespeare.
