nothing like a cool graphic novel with alt music to bring me back from a major reading slump.

Love love love the art. hated everytime ash spoke to the camera.
most of the humor fell flat on me but the BeReal joke & Girl Interrupted reference made me laugh.
I still enjoyed it overall im a FOB stan through and through. i will read anything Pete Wentz publishes. im excited to see him experiment more with writing for books/comics if he chooses to do so

It’s a fine trifle of a story … typical, competent YA.  Nothing too special or memorable.  Obviously, I’m not the target audience.  Competent but forgettable.

This is definitely going to become one of the books I will recommend to any graphic novel fan. From the art style (somehow a combination of chibi and realistic), to the unique concept (teenage girl trying to kill herself is cursed with immortality), to the humor (Wednesday meets Scott Pilgrim turned out to be a perfect description), to the literal rockstar author (Pete Wentz! From Fall Out Boy!), this book somehow managed to build incredibly high expectations while meeting all of them.

I often feel like standalone graphic novels can suffer from a lack of character development because there's only so much you can do in a limited number of pages. Wentz did a great job of handling this by limiting the number of characters to develop. There was a fairly large supporting cast, but only three of them had true storylines. Yes, the ending tied itself up into too pretty of a bow. But, overall, it's a graphic novel about two teenage girls falling in love (romantic? platonic? does it matter?) and a bow-tied ending turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Besides, in a plot where the resolution must involve giving a suicidal minor her mortality back, managing to handle that situation with any level of clarity, much less morality, is so impressive that I'm willing to handwave any contrivances.

DID NOT FINISH: 5%

I loved the art style but too many depictions of suicide for me personally. Could be great for others
