| Honestly one of the most thought provoking reads of the year, packs a punch for such a short novel. I've been thinking about it since I finished and I will definitely revisit this one because I am sure that upon second read I will gleam more from it that I missed the first time because of my confusion. I'm a bit of a stupid girlie and admit I immediately ran to reddit to see what they thought of it there, and I'm still not entirely convinced what this story was trying to convey. I liked it though, and I hated it. I will be back for seconds.

Gripping page turner and a quick read. Fun mystery to figure out as we’re thrown into the situation at hand, backtracking and trying to put the pieces together of what all happened to Amanda.

I haven’t had a good coffee (or any coffee, actually) since Monday, and I consciously miss it.
Okay so there’s a guy I'm seeing who keeps giving me books to read, and I’ll be damned if FEVER DREAM wasn’t one of them and I understood about 12% of it. I felt like a poor reader! Someone send help.
What I can say is that this short book is extremely taut — a relentless pace that never stops driving forward. Really, really effective in that sense. I just was confused with the plot, as I understand I’m somewhat supposed to be in a fever dream.
This 2017 novel, translated from Spanish, is equal parts unsettling, thrilling, and bewildering. Pick it up if you’re looking for something more experimental. And if you don’t mind a horse on the front cover.

Total spoiler - This was short, fast paced, and while mildly weird, pretty straight forward and easy to follow what’s going on. I enjoyed it as it picked up the pace even more about midway, I would just say there’s not much story, essentially mother & daughter vacation in little town where there’s not many healthy children, it’s unknown most of the story why but pretty obvious it’s something in the town. The main character meets another mother in town who tells the story of when her son almost died and was saved by having a woman in the greenhouse transfer his soul elsewhere to save the body. The story freaks out our main character who already has anxiety about keeping her daughter safe. Things are just off and they decide to leave vacation early but go to say goodbye to the woman they met. While sitting on the grass they both get wet and forget about it, then they end up poisoned, small town has no doctors and nurse at the clinic is practically useless. This story is the mother processing the fact that she’s died. She’s allowed to see that the woman took her daughter to the greenhouse to “save” her, and while her husband visits the woman house it’s obvious the the daughters soul was put into the woman’s sons body but the dad doesn’t notice.
