Thank you Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. IYKYK, my reviews are always honest.
One sentence review: Half Kerrwent (Maeve Kerr + Josh Derwent) romance, half police procedural, all the vibes
SYNOPSIS
DS Maeve Kerr and DI Josh Derwent go undercover as a couple to get to the bottom of a missing person's case.
MY OPINION
Oh. my. I scrummed louder than I've ever scrummed before while reading this. I felt like I was 12 years old again reading Twilight for the first time; Kerrwent's chemistry had me in a TIZZY

This was a bit of a disappointment. It was a long read, even though the book isn't to lengthy. Just felt like it took forever. I wasn't really interested in what was going on and a lot of the crime/mystery plot was overshadowed by the romance. Which was mainly tension and a 'will they won't they'.

I love reading thriller books and the close by Jane Casey definitely does not disappoint! I bought this last year at the Ennis Book festival after hearing Jane Casey on a panel and I also loved her book The Killing Kind. The close is a Maeve Kerrigan mystery and is the tenth book in that series, however you don't have to have read the other ones to read this one. This was the first I picked up in this series and it definitely won't be my last as I enjoyed it so much! Definitely going to read the others!
The Close is set in Jellicoe Close a seemingly perfect suburban street - well kept houses with pristine lawns, perfect families and friendly neighbours. But there are dark secrets behind the nest front doors, including a hidden criminal. DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent go undercover as a couple housesitting for a friend in order to uncover the truth about the crimes in Jellicoe.
I loved Maeve and Josh in this! I loved their relationship and the will they won't they get together theme throughout! Such an engaging plot throughout with very enjoyable characters!Overall I really enjoyed this one and I'll definitely be picking up more of the Maeve Kerrigan series

I loved this book. A murder mystery full of suspense. It's thrilling, it's exciting, it keeps you on your toes. I was constantly guessing who the murderer was and I didn't want to put it down, it was so good! There is lots of sexual tension but no spice. This book can be read as a standalone, but there are more books before this that follow the same characters.

The actual crime in this one was not the most engaging but I was riveted to Josh and Maeveās developing relationship and enjoyed the under cover aspect. Still one of my favourite series. .
