Review To Come...

This book was an absolute M E S S!!! I chose to read it because I only had a $7 Amazon gift card and this was the cheapest book that I could find. The saying, “you get what you pay for” really prevailed with this book. There are SO many things that I didn’t like about this book so I compiled a list to make reading this review easier.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
1. The main character in this book had an intense case of stockholm syndrome so reading her thoughts was difficult.

2. The plot of this story was just SO bizarre and strange!? I’ve never read any books about a kidnapping before but it just wasn’t done well in this book.

3. This book is listed as “YA” but it was very very mature???? Some of the adult romance books I’ve read haven’t been this mature/graphic so I don’t understand how this book is classified as “young adult.” (I put myself in a parent’s shoes and I would never ever be comfortable with buying this book for my 12 year old).

4. There are multiple scenes that contained borderline animal abuse and those scenes were really hard to read. I genuinely feel like the author could’ve very easily left those scenes out of this book and it would’ve been fine. (just as bad but fine).

Those are the things that I didn’t like about this book that I can think of off the top of my head but I just know there were more. I can’t wrap my head around how this book won an Honor Book Award at all. Just don’t waste your time with it.

The only reason I didn't like this book was because it was so detailed on the scenery, and so repetitively that I started to get over it. I wanted to know more about the actual abduction situation rather then the color of the sand. And I also thought it was a tad bit pitiful that what safes her is a snake bite.

Then again, it's just my opinion.

2.5 it was okay. Found it incredibly hard to read but maybe it was just because I was in a reading slump. I didn’t find the actual book interesting though…

I borrowed this book from a friend who had told me so many good things about it (I'd never heard of it before then) so I just had to read it. At first it was a bit slow, not much happened and Gemma was irritating me, but as the book progressed so did Gemma. She was really good at realising that no one was going to help her and did really well at taking matters into her own hands. One thing I was frustrated at was the ending. *DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT LIKE BOOKS THAT DONT TIE EVERYTHING UP*

This was heartbreaking, eye opening and a must read. Absolutely incredible.
challenging dark slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No

Beautifully written but left me with some mixed feelings.

I absolutely loved this book. It's one of my favorite books ever. I borrowed it from the library but I think if I saw it in a bookshop I'd buy it just to have on my shelf.

Was hooked! I knew that Stockholm Syndrome was a thing in this book, but I didn't realize just how deep the character was in until the end. Honestly, me too. I was kinda sympathizing with Ty throughout the book, because the author made him such a vulnerable character, but also such a creep!! I liked how it was set up like a letter, but I really didn't realize it was a letter until the end. Maybe that was just me. Overall, really enjoyed and was different from what I have been reading lately.
