The first time I read this book I was around 16 and I remember so vividly how upset I was that she “turned against Ty”. But now reading it, it’s horrifying how easy it was for me to fall for the trap of Stockholm Syndrome.

Unfortunately it's my comfort book. I've read this front to back over 6 times and had been for years. It's so good. Just checking for triggers. Otherwise I would recommd.
first reread (via audiobook) since i was a teenager. crazy that this is a YA novel. still holds up and so sickening in places.
I enjoyed this book. The whole plot line was interesting, but I felt it was a bit rushed and short. I feel like Gemmas character wasn't developed to much and that Lucy didn't develop the characters more. Overall it was a page turner and the Stockholm syndrome was very engaging.

I read this book so many months ago, and refused to write a review because
a) I was too lazy and
b) I was too heartbroken and emotional
But in the months that followed after reading this book,I found myself unable to think about this book. (Or rather, unable to think about this book without feeling my heart breaking all over again.)
There aren't a lot of books I can remember with vivid detail, but this is one of them. I grew very attached to some of the characters (especially the camel, which is kind of weird since I don't even remember her name), but most of all I feel in love with the setting. Lucy Christopher did an amazing job of describing how it felt to live in the Australian outback, and more than once I found myself wishing I could be transported into the story and live with its characters.
So when the book ended, you can imagine why it left me a sobbing and uncontrollable mess. I immediately began looking for a sequel, and when I couldn't find one I was devastated.
So I'll end this review with my very important demands for Lucy Christopher:
-a sequel
-a movie (or tv show) (actually tv show would be better)
-an apology
-a happy ending

the book did not end how i thought it was going to
This is one of my absolute favorite books, so I couldn’t not review it on here. It’s a short book but absolutely stocked full of impeccable detail and emotion. Lucy Christopher did a superb job with this book. You can’t help but relate to how the character feels throughout her predicament. I’ve read this book about a million times and couldn’t recommend it more. The only thing I was upset about is the ending, I hear she’s possibly going to make a second book to this one so
Gemma is abducted and taken to a foreign country by a man who has been watching her for years and feels they have a special connection. She fights and fights to escape her captivity from the desert compound he has built in Australia's Outback. Good, but didn't feel as developed as other kidnapping stories.
