I was pleasantly surprised by this book, as it's not really "my style". The story was quite interesting and I enjoyed getting to know all about Bess. My only complaint is how the story became predictable with the characters she met. Each time she became close with someone, it was pretty likely it would end up being Gideon. On the other hand, if it wasn't for him always tracking her down I might not have rooted as strongly for her to kick his ass and finally have some peace.

This is one of my favourite books of all time. The story may get a little repetitive, but its extremely well written, detailed and full of excitement. Start to finish I was captivated by the entrancing Elizabeth Hawksmith and her hedge witchery. I can honestly say I don't know why this book has so many negative reviews. You can tell Brackston has done her research, used it widely and poured her heart into the writing of this book. Not even going to lie I have read this at least 5 times and feel absolutely no shame in that. I have read two other of this series and have not been disappointed. A must read for all those in love with all things witchy! Go on give it a try you might just be pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed this read. Well written and an interesting storyline. I wish we could've heard more of Bess's stories through her years of immortality. The way the book was written had me turning page after page, eager to hear more of the sorceress Elizabeth Hawksmith.
