I’m sad it took me this long to read this one. It was fantastic!!!
I liked this book. I definitely enjoyed the flashbacks more than the present day timeline. It’s a decent read as long as you get past the slow start. The story is told through journal entries, and flips from present day to various past timelines. The middle flashback, in Victorian London, was my least favourite. The link to Jack The Ripper was lazy, and could have been left out. Perhaps building more on the 1628 and 1917 timelines. I did enjoy the narrator, who definitely helped propel me through this book.
I liked this book, but I would have preferred a series exploring all of Bess' different lives throughout history, culminating with the Tegan storyline, which just felt rushed and unfinished.
I just barely got the end of this one, which is so disappointing because the premise has so much potential! I found the ending to be dissatisfying and predictable, a couple of the historical flashbacks seemed unnecessary (as was the sexual assault— and Bess subsequently fawning over the rapist?!), and the characterization of several younger characters just felt contrived. I would have given it one star, but I did enjoy the premise and overall story. I just wish it had been executed a little more thoughtfully.

This was a nice read. Nothing too momentous in terms of witchy stories, this story has definitely been done before. But it was a nice read either way. Got a bit repetitive at times.
This book was ok. A little too much description and not enough story. The ending just didn't make sense. If you want a good book about witches, read The Discovery of Witches.

I liked this story, and liked the journey that the main character had throughout her time as a witch. The overall story was good, but at times it was hard to keep my attention.
An interesting twist on the usual witch story crossing time from the early witch hunts through World War 1 and on to modern times. Kept me guessing on the ending till the end. Great read for a rainy weekend
Not as exciting as I had hoped, a few eye-rolling dialogue moments and a few how-can-you-be-like-800-years-old-and-still-that-stupid moments.
