Who doesn’t love a spicy, hilarious holiday romcom in May? My Favorite Holidate delivers big laughs, fake dating shenanigans, and a billionaire boss who’s basically Santa—but way hotter and with better abs.

Okay, this one is partly my fault. I've read this author before and forgot how hit-or-miss I find her books. This one is clearly not for me.

However, I think it bears reviewing because the story exists in a weird space. It's very much a steamy Hallmark story and it was clear even in the bit that I read that the Christmas theme was going to overrun everything. Fable is your classic example of "how does this girl get into so many unbelievable situations?" She showers her boss with glittery d*cks in his office, she somehow didn't feel the paper towel stuck in her shirt until it felt out in front of Wilder when she shifted, and she's just generally a hot mess. But in a fun way! *sarcastic eye roll*

Growing up, there was a type of fanfiction called crack!fic (I'm probably dating myself here). It meant that the story would be over-the-top ridiculous and everyone would be so out of character that they were unbelievable. But it worked because it was funny and a bit satirical and didn't take itself seriously. It almost feels like this story could've gone in that direction and been pretty successful. I don't buy into genuine insta-love but if both characters are in on the joke? That'd be something I'd keep reading.

Definitely not my cup of tea.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Atria, and the author for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

It’s never too early for a Holiday romance. I really enjoyed Fable and Wilder's Christmas romance.

In The Romance line Everly mentioned to Max about Fable and Wilder’s fake dating and what happened at Thanksgiving. That hooked me to want to read Fable’s story next. Once I read what Brady did I was surprised.

Wilder is the sweet billionaire who wants to show Fable how she should be treated and to get out of his family's matchmaking, and Fable is his merchandise designer who needs a fake boyfriend for the holidays and her sister’s wedding. Wilder goes above and beyond at every turn to be the best fake boyfriend for her, then the best real boyfriend.

I loved the Christmas Competition games. They were determined to beat Brady at all the games, but I love that they did not end up winning every game, sadly they cannot be the best at everything.

My favorite moment of the book is when Wilder finally tells Leo what Brady did to Fable at Thanksgiving. I was shocked but in love with their plan and it was executed to perfection.

My Favorite Holidate is a cute little holiday romance read. Both Wilder and Fable are needing a date to her sisters wedding - Wilder because he's tired of his aunts meddling, and Fable because her ex is garbage. So, what better thing to do than fake date??? With it being a Christmas wedding, they will be participating in the towns holiday competition week, meaning they will have to get real close to each other to make people believe they're in love for that whole week. However, things get a little muddled along the day on what's real and what's fake. The way the ex was taken care of also really just made me happy! There were some moments that I thought the book was kind of dragging on but overall I enjoyed it and would probably read it again as a holiday cutesy pick me up.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

This was my first Lauren Blakely book and I will be reading all of her other books asap! I'm a sucker for a book with the enemies to lovers trope and even more of a sucker when it's set at Christmas time.

Watching Fable and Wilder grow together and on their own was so much fun. And honestly seeing a little bit of character progression from the side characters was great as well!

I listened to the audiobook and read this ARC as a tandem and OH. MY GOD. The full cast of the audio and 3 of my most favorite narrators made this book even better! If you're an audiobook listener, I definitely recommend it!
