Going into this book I was nervous I wouldn’t like the Alice chapters because I was so excited to get more of Clara and Sugarplum but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself just as excited for her chapters (honestly thanks to the cat).

This book was everything I wanted it to be when it came to Clara and Sugarplum. I remember at the end of the first book all I wanted was to get more of them so this was amazing. Learning what had happened to him during his time in the Unseelie kingdom was heartbreaking but I loved seeing him grow alongside Clara in throughout the book.

At first, I found Alice to be a little annoying but the more I read of her the more I loved her and her dynamics between the cat and rabbit. I know in the next book there is going to be recognizable characters so I’m hoping that we learn what happened with Louisa and the prince in this one and that the cat comes back. I love that the fact that Alice was the rabbit captive was acknowledged as that wouldn’t be a good foundation for a relationship but I can’t help but hope that she finds the cat again in the next book and is able to build something with him as all he really wanted was a cherishing relationship with her.

Was it good? No.
Was I entertained? Most of the time.
Would I read it again? No.
Will I read the next one? If I get around to it, but certainly not high on my list.

It was MUCH better as a retelling than the first. The first was not so much a retelling as a random name drop of characters. One really had nothing to do with, and no ties, to the other. This was much more involved and well done. If this was the first one in the series, I would have read the second much sooner. Instead it took me almost a year.

“What if you are my doom, after all? Maybe I want you to unravel me. I think any end in your hands would be a beautiful one.”

I went into this book with extremely high expectations and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This story follows my favorite couple from ACoSaS Fin and Clara on a rescue mission to save Alice from the White Rabbit and they discover an even darker plot in the Unseelie Court

So much incredible spice plus action packed high stakes adventure. Characters that draw you in and make you fall in love. There was a lot of dark elements to the story and trauma/PTSD representation along with all of the Alice and Wonderland references that were so smartly placed and seamless within the story.

“Danger is what makes beauty worth having, precious.”

GAHHHHHHH I LOVED THIS BOOK and cannot wait for book 3!!!!

Horny fairies!
