Dark Alice in wonderland retelling; dubcon; medical torment; semi animal cruelty
Just like with the first book, the rotating POV’s didn’t really do the book favors. I will say this is probably my favorite of the books so far — maybe I’m just bias because Alice in Wonderland is my favorite and obvz Sugarplum is also my favorite? WHO knows!
Anyway, that said, I have complicated feelings bc my love for Sugarplum and Clara made me want more of them whenever the focus wasn’t on them, but it’s an Alice book and I actually was totally captivated by her story with the Cat and the Rabbit, so I constantly was torn between wanting more Sugarplum and more Alice. Maybe if each book was just one pairing it wouldn’t feel so off?
Anyway, the world building is so clever and honestly I will eat up every book in this series like a drug no matter the flaws.

Ehhh this one was a miss for me. I really loved the first book, and the parts of this that I loved were seeing Fin and Clara again. I feel kinda let down with what we got from Alice and Cat and the White Rabbit (I listened to the audiobook so I have zero idea how to spell their names). There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL with them and we got tiny wisps of what could be between them but in the end she just leaves??? Idk I found it disappointing. I'm really hoping that book 3 resolves a little of what was left untouched (pun intended).

I actually liked this one a lot more than the first book in the series, it was less complete chaos and the storyline was more defined, but then I really kind of disliked the ending? I’ll still read the next one though.

Surprisingly intricate and interesting plot. Didn't think I would vibe with the Cat/Rabbit situation as much as I did...but consider me invested.
