While there was a lot happening in the story, I felt like it was slightly disjointed and the ending completely baffled me. I wanted to shake Frey, the main character. She seemed to spend the majority of the novel either unconscious or sulking. The plot was no clearer at the end than it was at the start. It is likely that I will read the next book, purely to see what the point of the story is! Mind, I can't really complain as I downloaded it for free from Amazon and certain parts of the book I really enjoyed. Hopefully the next book will be better.
An interesting start to the series.
Frey can suddenly do magic. Then the council trys to kidnap her. So she follows this map that is in her hands.
I enjoyed reading Frey change. She doesn't give in with all the setbacks. She keeps treking. I also liked that she is taught not to rely on magic. They show Frey different ways to protect herself. It isn't all about the magic.
However, at some parts the book started to lag and fade. Towards the end, it started to pick up again, but the middle was a little lost. At some parts I found myself confused about what was going on, but other then that this was an interesting debut to a series.
Overall, a very light read. If you are looking for something to read, check this one out.

I tried, but after 71 pages, I could not even fathom finishing this book. The main character had me pulling my hair out. She was whiny and did atrocious things without remorse. I will not finish this book or any of the others in this series.
I found the start of the story really ridiculous, too much happened at once without any clue as to what was happening. The story could have been dragged out and give more substance to start off with and also through most of the middle. Despite this, I found the last chapter or two to he quite interesting and now have the need to read the rest of Freya's story. I just hope that it is better than this.
Tried to read this during lunch today. I gave it 144 pages, but the MC is too stupid. I cannot continue omg.
It was alright, nothing special. I got if for free though, and who says no to a free book?
Frey was a nice read. I quite liked the characters, setting, and flow. The story is the opening chapter for the series, and as such, provides the current background for the main character, who discovers her history along with the reader. I found that the story provided lots of hints, but didn't follow up on them enough, at least for me.
Not really sure why anything that happens is happening or why I should care other than that I know the characters care for some reason lmao.
I tried and it failed! Such a boring and annoying heroine. The storyline was not very exciting either.
Stupid cover. Okay story.
I'll be honest, Frey is not the best heroine, and the story isn't that interesting, but I was intrigued by the book. It isn't often I read this kind of book, but I enjoyed the predictable but fun story.
Although the book should've been called "Training Frey"! Lots of training. Might pick up the second, if it promises more action.
