Me encantó, al principio no sabia que esperar de este libro y cuando me adentre a la historia me di cuenta.
Me di cuenta que no iba a ser como nada de lo que había leído jamás, es un libro con un significado impresionante y me encanto por eso.
emotional mysterious

I enjoyed this. It was slow going and I felt it was very long. In the end, it had me crying and pining for the two characters to end up together. It happened. I was happy about it. :-)

One of the best books I've read in awhile. This is a considered a "crossover" book that falls in both the adult and teen genres. For a librarian who works with teens, I found it just perfect.

Once you get started with Nastya's and Josh's stories, you'll have a hard time setting this book down. Incredible.

"It's a promise and a memory of the future and a book of better stories"

Wow, just wow!

Honestly, it took me a while getting into this book. I wasn't sure why everyone keeps rating this book so high. But what can I say? At some point I got sucked right into it, like we were two magnets and I just could not take my eyes of those pages.
This story is so full of emotions, heartache, love, friendship and suffering packed in well written words, that you will feel, break and heal all in one book!
I've read a lot of books this year so far, but I can't remember one that made my cry silently at the end, without even realising I did.

Oh my god...there was a lot that I hated or wanted to, but there was so much more that shredded me and spit me out. It was nearly too much at the end. I sat with my mouth pressed against my hand for a lot. And choked back tears. Some things made me so angry. But now, I just feel drained and overwhelmed and sad. This book made me realize that awful things happen that we have no control over. Futures get destroyed, people change, opportunities are lost. And there is literally nothing you can do about it. You can lean on people, but you often have no idea if they will let you down too. Trust and love are often entangled with loss and fear, and this is one of the scariest things about this book.

At first, I knew something horrible had happened to Nastya. I knew Josh had lost a lot of people. What took more time to sink in was just how damaged they were. I was expecting an "emotional rollercoaster" but honestly, this resonated grief. There was a lot of obvious romance and misunderstandings, but beyond that there was a need to be together. I was angry at them both for missing the obvious so many times, but at the same time, the way they needed each other was acutely painful.

Nastya is an amazing narrator. She's funny and sarcastic and clever. She's bitter and angry and pitiful. She's strong and vulnerable. She hates and hates and hates. Herself, her therapists, her family, her destroyed talent. And she doesn't really hide it. She's a puzzle that is constantly flipping sides. She dresses in black, she's obsessed with carpentry, she runs until she pukes, she bakes and eats so much sugar she should have diabetes, and she collects names. She was absolutely fascinating and completely intrigued me. And Josh. He's amazing too, and although his story is not as harrowing or disturbing - it's also full of tragedy. They are really multi-dimensional characters, who make innumerable mistakes, but you can't help rooting for them deeply.

The side characters are great too, the story isn't just focused like a laser-beam on Nastya and Josh. There's Drew. Tierney. His mother. Asher. Margot. I loved them all really differently. Drew was one of my favorites, he was such a messed up guy. It reminds you that no matter where you look, pain can be where you least expect it. There are some that scream for help, and some who you'd never realize need it.

I believe the scene with drugs was unnecessary. And I didn't understand some of the decisions Nastya makes. Obviously, she's irrational, but sometimes there were things that just didn't really make sense. Some things were too abrupt or didn't have the attention they needed. But at the same time, I couldn't put it down. For me, the romance wasn't the main part, it was the actual connection and understanding between them. I loved that about this book, it made it seem flawless. It might be a story of hope and romance for some people, and there is some hope at the end - but for me, what really stuck is you eventually realize the world can suck, but you might just find the one person who can make it a little more bearable.

After reading the book, I was kind of disappointed. I mean, I see it all the time in some of the lists and people say that it's really great, but unfortunately I can't see it's awesomeness. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, yeah it's good, but I just didn't like it. (it's just my opinion; don't kill me for it, haha!)

Please don't hate me for giving the book 3 stars only. It's just that it's so slow-paced and there's so many paragraphs before actual conversations between people.

It's a good book, but ... meh. It ... it's hard to explain. I just don't like it that much, I guess. :) It's not the kind of book that I usually read. XD
