Just marvelous! This was in a stack of books my neighbor gave me and had been on my shelf for awhile. I am so glad I picked it up! Loved the well developed characters. You'll laugh and cry but mostly you'll love that God's grace shines through adversity.

The book was fine. The characters were well drawn and interesting, but the plot was a bit predictable. Story was based in the past which was enjoyable for the historical mentions and being told from the vantage point of a 13 year old made it more interesting. But the foreshadowing was heavy handed and took away from the book (for my taste).

Not amazing and not terrible, just fine.

The story is sad. the people are real and far from perfect.

Growing up in Minnesota it was fun to read a book and know the towns in the book.
