*The Sittaford Mystery* - Agatha Christie (I was really looking forward to the climax but it let me down. I did _not_ like the motive for the murder at all. Perhaps Agatha did too good a job painting the bad guy in good light)

One of Christie’s non-series novels. A mysterious mother and daughter rent the home of Captain Trevelyan in the dead of winter and no one can figure out why. They host frequent teas and cocktail parties for their neighbors in Sittaford. Captain Trevelyan has taken a furnished house in Exhampton and wants nothing to do with them. Then during a seance a murder is revealed to have tasked place. Enter Emily Trefusis, one of Christie’s best independent women, determined to solve the murder mystery. A fun, fast paced read. Nothing at all like the TV adaptation, which shoe horned in Miss Marple where she didn’t belong.
