This was recommended on some site as a good winter holiday read. Mainly because it’s got snow, I guess. I didn’t like it, it bored me to tears. The mystery is fine enough, I suppose, I just didn’t care about any of the characters. The setting felt too outdated.
The story starts off with a seance where the death of a rich old guy is revealed. Someone sets off through the snow to check. Turns out he is dead, and a relative is arrested and his fiancé Emily vows to redeem him.

Have to accept at this point that I’m just not a huge fan of Christie. I find the investigations dull and the characters flimsy: ‘tis not my thing, unfortunately. There’s not a lot I have to say about this book honestly, except that it was rather boring and that the back of the book does not describe it properly whatsoever: the actual plot line mostly covers a women investigating the murder to clear her fiancé of suspicion.
And in terms of the murder itself,I like something a little more grand and cerebral for the motive than €5000.
