There is nothing new here for most people who keep up with animal science, but the author once again comes off as arrogant and preachy.

The author talks to the similarities between human and animal emotions, cognitions and desires. Presents a well thought out case that we are more similar to our friends in the animal kingdom than we are different.

Roślinki jednak podobały mi się bardziej. O zwierzętach można bardzo dużo opowiadać, i Wohlleben ma przyjemnie konwersacyjny styl (choć tłumaczenie bądź redakcja chyba mniej mu podołało niż w pierwszej książce - brakowało mi tych informacji o polskim kontekście, które trafiły do przypisów w życiu drzew), ale nie było to specjalnie odkrywcze ani aż tak poruszające. Przemyślenia dotyczące duchowości/moralności zwierząt wydawały się wtykane w historie na siłę, jakby na życzenie redakcji, wnioski szły niezbyt daleko (naprawdę jeszcze trzeba udowadniać, że zwierzęta czują ból?). Najciekawsze było dla mnie, gdy najbliższe domu, gdy pojawiały się konie, psy i inne ptaki z otoczenia autora.

Ponownie - ilustracje wyszłyby na pewno na dobre książce niestety, czytałam zwykłe, nie "premium" wydanie.

I was hoping for more from this book, more depth on each topic or animal. Each chapter was so short, so I didn’t feel there was much detail. I suppose it’s in the title that it’s observation, but I was hoping for some depth and science to back things up.
