My second reading of this, first time as an audiobook and it really enriches the experience. I don't know what it is but for me this book grasped me from the off and is my favourite out of all the Kawabata's I have read thus far.

Simple and elegant but a bit lacking for me when it came to the story.
Heel mooi, ook erg ‘stil’. Snapte het einde niet helemaal. Maar prachtig beschreven, de relatie met dood/levend, de theeceremonies, liefde etc
I did not enjoy this one. The plot was confusing; the main character was flawed (not in a good way), and his attitudes about and actions toward women were unpleasant to read.
